The Friday Party - 19th October
We are preparing one of the biggest Swing dance festivals of the Netherlands. The Central Studios will be hosting this year's opening festival!
There will be competitions, shows, performances, and of course a lot of dancing till 3am!
The band of this evening is the much praised Reverent Juke.
Come, join us on Friday night and do not miss this great opportunity to dance with so many awesome dancers in such an amazing venue!

Registration
Registrations are closed for full passes. If you are interested please send a mail to swingdom@swinginutrecht.nl with your contact information and desired level.
Levels
You need to be comfortable with the 6 and 8 counts, pass-by, change places and you know how to do a basic swing out. You’ve been dancing for at least 6-12 months and you often attend swing parties. You are eager to learn new moves and to learn how to connect better with your partner.

Workshops
Locations
All the workshops will take place on Saturday and Sunday.
According to your level you will be going one of the following locations for morning classes which will be between 11:00 - 12:30.
Podium Oost: 148 Oudwijkerdwarsstraat, Utrecht
Gym: Burgemeester Fockema Andreaelaan 9A, Utrecht
All the afternoon classes for all levels will be between 13:30 - 18:00 at:
Olympos: Uppsalalaan 3, 3584 CT Utrecht
Last 1 hour in the afternoon classes (17:00-18:00) will be the theme classes that the dancers will be able to pick one out of three themes.

Ryan Francois (GB)
Choreographer Ryan Francois is popularly known for his choreography for Strictly Come Dancing and So You Think You Can Dance. He's a 2 time winner of the U.S. Open and American Swing Dance Championships and is the foremost authority in the US & UK on all dances connected and related to the Jazz & Swing era - including, The Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Jive, Charleston, Tap, Be Bop and Blues.
Shorty George (USA)
Shorty George is one crazy dance cactus. When he started dancing in New York City, he forgot that he needed water to survive. While dehydrating himself, he enjoyed making his partner smile, as well as dancers around him. Since 2004, he’s rocked out as a Lindy Hop, Blues, and Balboa dancer. Around the globe from Taiwan, Denmark, Turkey, Iceland, Spain, and other countries, George taught Lindy, Balboa, and Blues Workshops and brought great energy, humor, and entertainment to the classes while teaching some useful techniques to improve people’s dancing, such as musicality, partner connection, feeling, character, and improvisation.
Ira Ishchuk (UA)
She started dancing Lindy Hop in 2006 and found that this is the best way to express yourself, have fun, meet people and discover the world. She first found her way into couple dancing as a Follower (with a capital F), but since then has found thrill in her own interpretation and improvisation. She prefers to dance for, and with, her partner rather than the audience and doesn't go for flashy dancing. She tries to follow as much as it is possible and find ways to have the most comfortable, joyful and unified dance: “Listen to the music, your partner, and your body. Follow these guidelines and you'll have the best dances ever!” During the last year she has been teaching Lindy Hop, Blues, Balboa and Solo Jazz in Taiwan, Sweden, Denmark, Turkey, Ukraine, Belarus, Poland at Herrang, Lindy Shock and Dragon Swing.
Dom & Nora (AT/HU)
Dom & Nora tried a lot of dances and sports since they could walk – when finally Lindy Hop found them. As for both of them movement, improvisation, fun and challenges are very important, there was no stop anymore and the dance took over their daily life. Today they are passionate Lindy Hop dancers, instructors and performers. They continuously travel to teach and to dance around Europe. They competed at the International Lindy Hop Championships in 2017 & 2016, European Swing Dance Championships in 2013 and are regularly in Finals of Strictly Lindy Hop competitions at international swing dance festivals. In 2014 they founded their own swing dance school SwingAUT in Vienna, Austria. Since then they share their love for Lindy Hop and Swing in Austria and in Europe. They love Swing Outs, fast Swing Outs! As they dance together already for several years, they know a lot about strong partnership and having a good connection to your partner. They love to dance dynamic and keeping the energy and the flow with your partner and the music.
Lisa Mould
Lisa was born with dance shoes on. First ballet, modern and contemporary dance and since +/-2000 le lovely lindyhop, jazz and charleston. As a founder of dance school SwingStreet in Amsterdam and trainer and choreographer of the Cotton Club and Fruns dance groups, her passion is teaching and performing. Musicality and energy are central, and also being available as a follower for international gurus such as Ryan Francois 😉
Parties
There will be parties on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Our big party will be on Friday night at the Central Studios (Gietijzerstraat, 3534 AV Utrecht). While the party will start at 21:00, there will be a My First Lindy taster class before the party and it will be open to any full-pass or Friday-party-pass holder. Exact timing for this class and registration opening will be declared here. The Reverent Juke will be playing live, and DJs Superheidi and Kings of Swing will play their favorites for you. Party will last till 3am!
The Saturday party will be on Ottone (Kromme Nieuwegracht 62, Utrecht). It will start at 20:00 and will go on till 01:00. The Kalishnikovs is the band of the night. And DJs Kings of Swing will be playing in all remaining times.
The Sunday party will take place at LE:EN (Heuveloord 140, 3523 CK Utrecht). This party will start at 19:30 and we will be closing the night and also sadly SwingDom 2018 by around 23:00. DJs of the night are Enzo and Rohan.
Bands
Reverent Juke (BE)
Born in 2015 out of the collaboration between a musician and a dancer, "Reverent Juke" has its roots in the golden era of swing. Driven by an explosive rhythmic and sublimated by a very swinging brass section, the band interprets and revisits the beads of Jelly Roll Morton Chick Webb, through Fletcher Henderson, Buddy Johnson or Hearls Hines. Renowned for setting fire to every performance, on the rhythm of its breathtaking arrangements, Reverent Juke will make you swing and move like never before!
The Kalishnikovs (NL)
The Kalishnikovs is an awesome swing band, which play the original '30-'40 Lindy Hop tophits. The passionate musicians swing with their heart and soul, they know how to create the right atmosphere for keeping the dancers moving! No matter if you are a beginner, an experienced or an advanced dancer, everybody feels the vibe when they start to play. Since The Kalishnikovs are a small band, they perform in any setting, from a pub, an outdoor jazz event to a dance palace!
Price
The full pass costs 155 euro and includes:
- 6 hours of regular lindy hop classes
- 2 hours of theme classes
- Access to all parties
A limited number of party passes will become available at a later time.
